Quoting his work  “Zur Farbenlehre” ; “in order to bring forth colour we need light and darkness, or rather light and no-light. Closest to light we find a colour we call yellow, and closest to darkness we find the colour we call blue…….these two has the ability to individually bring forth a new colour. Condensed, obscured and darkened each of them get a reddish hue which heightened makes the original blue and yellow almost unrecognizable. The red colour in its highest and purest form is better attained when combining the yellowred and the bluered found as the last in line of the heightened colour…..”
